Jeff Dauler (of the Q100 Atlanta morning show team) is in the midst of intense training for his first triathlon in September in Malibu California, so we’re taking our inspiration from him, and training for our big September event in California. We’re all champions here, what can I say?
Tonight we’re hanging on the deck and thought we’d break out a Spanish red to have along with some kickass chicken and veggies on the grill. We opened a bottle of is Terres De Vidalba Tocs Priorat Doq 2004. It retails for between $50 and $70 but we NABBED it for $35 from Wine Library, wine guru Gary Vaynerchuk’s online wine outlet. Sweet!
This bottle of deliciousness is 35% Garnacha, 30% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Merlot aged for 16 months in 80% new French oak. We decanted it for two hours and upon drinking found a nose of smoke and dark cherry. The wine is dark and inky with firm tannins, is fruit forward with notes of plum, black fruit, and finishing with hints of licorice and cordial cherries. We give it a 93. Because it has a good beat and you can dance to it.
